Ex-rock musician Dave's one ambition is to live out his retirement in peace and quiet. But his plans go awry when his wheelchair-bound brother Des draws him into a life of crime. ěWelcome to the Bluebird Experienceî is the story of two brothers determined to grow old disgracefully. Des and Dave Gilroy were once in a band that was going to be ëbigger than the Beatlesí. But fame and fortune somehow eluded them and as they enter their twilight years, they decide to collect what they feel life owes them. They embark upon a bombing campaign with the aim of blackmailing a bank into paying them two million pounds. For six months, the Bluebird Bomber baffles police who think they are looking for someone young and ruthless. If they had known that their prey was two brothers in their sixties, they might have caught them sooner.

The story is inspired by the true story of Edgar Pearce, the 1995 West London Mardi Gra Bomber, who at the age of 60 launched a terrorist campaign aimed at Barclays Bank and Sainsbury Supermarkets.
